Hi Vic,

I'm not sure where the relevant docs on this are either --- it might be one of those cases where long-term users forgot that this can be confusing :)

The key is index.rst. You get a table of contents by listing .rst files with your content in index.rst. So, you would put your problems onto two different .rst files, put both those files in your _sources folder, and then list the relative path to those files in the body of your index.rst.

Check out an example index.rst to see how it works. Here's the relevant files in one of my ebooks: https://github.com/katieirenec/plans-pretest/tree/master/_sources

Good luck! Feel free to come back with questions / clarifications.

Best,
Katie

I'm sorry if this is covered somewhere, but I'm looking for instructions for authors for creating multiple chapters or pages.

I've created 2 set of programming problems for python, but I have them all in one page.  How do I split them into 2 pages, and have a table of contents, etc.?

(I can look at examples out there, but I thought there should be instructions somewhere.  But, I can't find them.)

Thanks.

Vic

This is also covered in the index.rst file that gets created when you run the runestone init command to start a new project.  And you are also welcome to look at any of the books on https://github.com/RunestoneInteractive to see how they are organized.

Also, as a reminder, http://runestoneinteractive.org/build/html/index.html was updated earlier this summer and is really quite good now.
