Practice Exams locking students out

Each time I assign one of the timed Practice Exams in the Java Review, 2-4 students out of 32 are unable to use it. When they try to click an answer, they get a red X telling them they can't do it. Sometimes reloading the page does it, but usually they have the same problem if they try to do a differed timed Practice Exam. The untimed exams work fine. This has happened in each of my 3 sections, with the pretest and with practice exam 1.

I think one of your students created a Github issue about this problem.

I am not able to reproduce it in any of my testing, and the fact that its not happening to all your students just a few of them is concerning.  I'm also not hearing about this from anyone else using that book.  When your student initially reported the problem it looked to me like they were on http://interactivepython.org which is very outdated, I've made many warnings and even changed the background of that homepage to bright red to draw attention to that fact that you should not be using that page anymore.  That book exists in a much better form on https://runestone.academy

I'm assuming you are in an environment where students are sharing computers??  Do they each have a login to the computer or are the computers open to anyone who  sits down?  If the computers are shared without a login profile for each student then it seems likely that is the root of the problem, because the page is using  a combination of local information and information stored in our database to determine whether a student has already attempted the exam.

The best way to help get to the bottom of this is to check the javascript console and send me any information in the console. and post that on the GitHub issue so that we can all try to troubleshoot.

Hi Brad, thanks for the quick response. My link is the following, which I think is the correct one. All my students are listed as students in CHS19.

I looked at one of the students who is having this problem and her browser also says runestone academy...

I don't think the issue in Github came from one of mine, since I don't have a Mariana and we don't use github as a class. Firefox worked for Mariana, but not for us.
