java.io.IOException: Decryption failed

Hi Team,

I have upgraded the rundek from 3.3.18 to 4.10 and started the rundeck service with old configuration.

I'm using the mysql database and added plain text password in datasource.password parameter without any encryption but still showing same error.

In Rundeck dashboard, we are seeing "Error 500: Internal Server Error".

Please help in fixing the issue.

Hi,

Does that happen at the moment of launching Rundeck? Did you follow these steps to upgrade? The gap betwen 3.3.x and 4.10 is huge, the easiest way is to import the projects and keys in a fresh latest rundeck instance / backend.

That error is because the current backend is encrypted previously and is expecting the right password to encrypt/decrypt. Make sure to use the right encryption password. Take a look at this.

Yes, its getting during rundeck launch after starting the service. i followed the upgrade steps which provided in rundeck doc. How to fix the issue.

Hi, Check your `rundeck-config.properties` file and make sure to use the right password in the ecryption section, take a look at this. If you have an old instance backup you can see the differences, also, as I said before and considering the gap between 3.3.18 and 4.10.0, consider the way to recreate the new instance against a fresh database and then export all projects and keys.
