On ubuntu 14.04, installed Rundeck using JAR file.

1. Updated server url with framework, preferences and rundeck properties files to the ip address (with port # where necessary).

2. Started the rundeck server and was able to login as admin / admin.

3. Setup a sample project and test job to echo hostname of the node (running the job on the server locally).

4. Job starts but then fails with this error message:

^2016-12-26T15:48:09Z||ERROR|{node=54.202.181.216|user=admin}|Failed to start execution: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Attribute absolute='true' specified but no grails.serverURL set in Config^

Googling for this error indicates that grails.serverURL must be uncommented.
But if the line (grails.serverURL) is uncommented, am unable to login anymore.

Am I missing any additional setting in the properties config ?

TIA,
/Ram

You should set the grails.serverURL to the public address you can reach from your browser.

Thanks Alex.

After updating grails.serverURL I was attempting to check Rundeck immediately but it never worked.

Lesson Learnt: change the settings, wait for few mins before re-loading the URL to check the changes.

Yes, it works.
