Hi all,

Was hoping for a little advice on scripting Rundeck 3.0.16 user creation on Centos 7

file auth would be easy unless you want to encrypt, the password encryption util seems to interactive only?

thanks in advance

Hi Olaf,

You may define the password at the moment of encryption using the tool, check that and watch how to use it:

Hope it helps!

Hi, thanks for the reply,

I understand that one can encrypt a password using cli "java -jar rundeck-3.0.0.war --encryptpwd Jetty" but this seems purely interactive.

My intention is to create a bunch of Rundeck users with Ansible template but need to encrypt passwords first probably using the Ansible command module.

I see no way to pass in username and password to "java -jar rundeck-3.0.0.war --encryptpwd Jetty" am I missing something?

thanks
Olaf

Hi Olaf,

I understand you. I don't think so, a good option is calling a bash script than intinerate with "java -jar rundeck-3.0.17.war --encryptpwd Jetty" using Expect.

You have a good starting point here:

And here:

Greetings.
