This week we are resurrecting an old run!  We will be doing the old Bountiful run but starting it at the bottom of the big hill in North Salt Lake.  Come and run your old friend!

 

Route: North Salt Lake Bountiful Run

Start time: 7:00 AM

Start location: On the corner of Orchard Street and Eagle Ridge Dr (parking lot).  See below for map of starting point.

Mileage: 13-14

Sag: No SAG!  Please bring your own water.  There are some gas stations on the route but they are towards the end of the run.

Just a shameless plug for the Sugarhouse hill kills. We have a great group of up to 7 people getting up early and slaying some big hills every Tuesday at 5:30AM. We would love to have more join us and it is great training for early season marathons.

This week we had planned to run from Brighton to “The Store” off of Highland Drive for a 20 mile run.  Word has it that the road from Brighton to Solitude is not very clear.  But, it has been verified that the road from Solitude is clear enough to run on.  Mileage from Solitude is just under 16.  The group will decide during the run when/if to add extra miles.  This can be done on Holladay Boulevard or at the end of the run.

Hello Runagades!

 

This week we are doing Lloyd’s Provo Run.  After the run, Lloyd and Jan have generously offered to have us over to their house for breakfast.  Thank you Lloyd and Jan!

 

This run will be out-and-back starting at Canyon View Park in Provo.  It is self-supporting.  Note the later start time of 7:30am and carpooling information below.

 

A quick review of our Jeremy Ranch reverse route:

-        I think we all agreed that it was much better to start at the turn-around point when the canyon was cooler.  It was much better to climb when cool and then do the downhill when the sun was up.

-        We definitely need a SAG for this run so thank you Gary!

-        Despite what google map says, it only took us 32 minutes to get from the 3900 S Park-N-Ride to the turn-around point (Little Dutch Hollow on the back side of Big Mountain).  This is the same amount of time it takes to get to the normal starting point.

 

Route: Lloyd’s Provo Run.

Start time: 7:30 am

Start location: Canyon View Park

Mileage: 10

Sag: Self-Support

Estimated start temp: 46 F

Car-Pool:  Meet at 6:45am at the Costco parking lot at 5400 S and State

Does anyone know if there is any water at all along Emigration?  If not, I have an idea.  If someone wants to meet me early at the Dog Park then we could drive to the top of little mountain.  I could leave my car with a cooler of water and gatorades in it.  We could drive the other car back down.  When we get to the top we can refill at my car and then again after we climb back up the backside.  Thoughts?

Just for reference----planting a car at the top is still totally the way to go---- if I remember right it seems like there's been times when there was an operating water fountain at the fire station. But I don't know if there is one right now, or if I'm even remembering correctly.

There is a spring (Henderson Spring) about 250m up Burrs Lane (Pinecrest Fork), on the right. You'd reasonably expect the water to be potable but I can't swear it is.

This is the last long run before the BC Marathon.  Please note that this run is self-supporting and the distances variable. It is 14 miles from Brighton to the mouth of the canyon and 17 miles from Brighton to Famous Dave’s.  If you want extra mileage, you can add this on with an out-and-back on Wasatch.  We will also do water drop-offs at Donut Falls (has bathroom and trash cans) and the large rock at the housing development just east of the bathrooms at the mouth of the canyon.  See you there!

[Gretchen Foster-Margetts]

I am planning the shorter route of 14.  Would that mean that I would end at the base of the canyon.  If so I would like to park at the park n ride at the base.  Could I do that and have someone pick me up on the way to Brighton.  If so what time should I be at the base?

Sorry to bother with a group email.  I will be at Saturday's run with the sag stuff.  I will not be at the run on Sept 7th or in town that week to hand off the sag stuff.  i am hoping that Tracy or another runner can take the sag stuff this saturday and get it to Tracy for the Sept 7th run.

Hey Everyone,

There have been a few emails going around to arrange carpooling.  We've basically got 2 groups of runners - those running 14 miles that will run from Brighton to the mouth of the canyon and those running 17-22 miles that will run from Brighton to Famous Dave's.  We're requesting that the 14 mile group arrange their own carpooling from the Park-N-Ride at the mouth of the canyon - there are enough people to do so (5 so far - Gretchen, Georgi, Mike, Drew, and Joseph).  The 17-22 mile group will meet at Famous Dave's.  Both groups should meet at 5:30am

Hello Runagades!

 

This week we are back to running the road behind Jeremy Ranch.  On our last run, we started at the end of the Jeremy Ranch road at Little Dutch John (where the dirt road meets the pavement), which is on the back side of East Canyon.  This turned out to be so much better of a start.  We will do the same this week.

 

Route: Jeremy Ranch

Start time: Meet at 5:30am at the 39^th South and Wasatch Park-N-Ride for Carpooling

Start location: Little Dutch John – but meet at the Park-N-Ride for carpooling

Mileage: 18

Sag: Tracy C

Estimated start temp: 47 F
