Greetings,

The RUME Working Group for Research on College Mathematics Instructor Professional Growth, will meet on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 8am to 12pm (Eastern Time). The working group session is fully hybrid (on-site in Virginia at the RUME 2026 Conference and in Zoom).

This long-standing working group focuses on research on the professional development and growth of college mathematics instructors. Many current members have a particular interest in the professional growth of novice college teachers (e.g., graduate students in their first teaching roles). The group meets online periodically throughout the year and face-to-face at the RUME conference annually. If you are new-ish to the group, check out the description for the working group session this year.

Across the four hours of the session, there will be several different types of opportunities for you to engage with the work of the members of the group. One is the Share-o-Rama where folk get one slide to describe a current or on-going project. Another option is time in a small group feedback session where you can share your research work-in-progress (including things in planning stages) and receive feedback from a few other working group participants.

Next steps for you:

  • If you plan to participate in the conference but haven’t yet signed up, please register for the conference and choose Working Group 6: Research on College Mathematics Instructor Growth on the working group sign up form. If you are not attending the RUME conference, but would like to participate in the working group via Zoom, you can do that as well!

  • Complete the working group pre-session survey [follow this link]. It includes places to indicate your interest in the share-o-rama, the small group sharing opportunity, and to provide the organizers with some information about your experience, goals for the session, and if you are a returning member, recent publications.

  • If you will participate in the one-slide sharing, make sure to add a slide for yourself by February 23rd to the Share-o-Rama slide deck

For all those planning to attend virtually via Zoom, please register for the Zoom link here. You will receive a unique-to-you link for the session.

Thanks for signing up by the end of the day Monday, February 23 (especially if you are a person wanting feedback).

Sincerely,

Mary Pilgrim (for The Organizers)
