Designing Professional Development Programs for Graduate Teaching Assistants (virtual, June)

The CoMInDS team will offer this virtual workshop in collaboration with MAA OPEN Math on June 16, 17, 18 & 23, from 11am-5pm ET. This workshop will provide guidance on the design of mathematics department-based professional development programs about teaching for graduate students. Each day will include approximately 4 hours of synchronous activities, plus roughly two hours per day for participants to work on the design of their departmental programming with support from the CoMInDS team. At the workshop, participants will:

  • experience professional learning activities

  • gain familiarity with research and evaluation related to teaching and instructor preparation

  • gain access to a large collection of professional development lessons, activities, and assignments to use in your program

  • network with others who run professional development for teaching programs

Departments are encouraged to send two-person teams to the workshop.
