Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the SIGMAA on RUME Executive and Program Committee, I am very excited to share the names of the three plenary speakers for the upcoming 2026 RUME conference in Alexandria, VA.

We will have two plenary sessions at the conference. The first session will be the first joint interdisciplinary plenary session with Dr. Jenn Czocher from Texas State University, and Dr. Felix Ho, a chemistry educator from Uppsala University in Sweden. The second session is to honor the 2024 winner of the MAA Annie and John Selden prize for contributions to RUME, Daniel Reinholz from San Diego State University. We are very excited to honor these scholars’ contributions and for them to share their wisdom and insights with the community.

This announcement also serves as another reminder that the deadline for paper submissions is September 5th, 2025 at 11:59pm. This is coming up in two weeks. As always, please refer to the RFP for details for the submissions. It is available on the conference website. Also available on the website is the booking link to stay at the conference hotel! You can find the link under the Accommodations tab.

Lastly, as we reiterated during the SIGMAA RUME Business Meeting last week, please note the authorship restriction for submissions (see RFP under the same heading). This was introduced for the 2025 conference:

Authorship Restrictions. To accommodate as many individual people as possible, there will be a limit of one first author contributed or preliminary submission allowed, one first author theoretical paper submission, and one first author poster submission allowed (a maximum of three first author submissions spread over the three tracks). There are no restrictions on the number of papers an author is listed on in total outside of first authorship.

Thank you and have a good start of the academic year!
