In the mathematics department at Cal Poly, SLO, the (approximately) 35 permanent faculty include six mathematics educators. The department has an active research culture and offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate level courses with an average class
size of under 35 students. The Math Education faculty are responsible for teaching content courses for future K12 teachers (including content courses for future elementary teachers), as well as a wide range of mathematics courses for our ever-growing student
population. Cal Poly SLO is committed to the Teacher Scholar Model, and the math courses offered in our department embody the Cal Poly 'Learn by Doing' philosophy.
