Hi:

I have been trying to get rum to play with pylons, but it seems the
docs are outdated and I end up getting the following error when I try
to start the pylons app:
AssertionError: No object has been registered for this thread

Is there any other resource that deals with getting this working or
maybe this is a common error that someone has seen before? I can
provide a full traceback, but I thought I'd try to see if someone has
rum working with pylons 1.0 first.

Cheers,
ThatPythonGuy

Hi!
I have rum working with Pylons 1.0.
Please try using
rum, tw.rum and RumAlchemy from our repositories on
http://hg.python-rum.org/

I cannot remember anything which changed and is not resolved by the current
rum package.
Anyways, a little bit more traceback would maybe stimulate my memory.
Cheers,
Michael

Thanks for the quick reply, Michael. I already see that the Rum docs
refer to config['paths'] instead of the correct config['pylons.path'],
so there are some issues there. But, fair enough, I'll try the rum-
hosted packages and hope they work. I'll provide the traceback if that
doesn't work.

Cheers,

Hello Michael:

After installing the rum-hosted packages that you mentioned as well
as
removing the reference to the templates (even config['pylons.paths']
turned out to be an empty list at time of rum app generation), I'm
happy
to confirm that rum does works with Pylons 1.0!

If you would like more people using rum (at least from the Pylons
world), and more people should, it is imperative to fix the docs.

I can submit a patch, if you like.

Cheers,
ThatPythonGuy

I completely agree.

That would be really awesome help.
Once you submitted a patch I upload a new version.
The sources of the docs are, as you have probably seen, in the
docs
directory of the
rum
repository.

Moreover, I would like to encourage you to ask
questions.

I have a very, very customized instance of RUM running here.
The RUM design by Alberto is really powerful and flexible.
From time to time I push new components, widgets,
and easier interfaces to this core into our main repository.

So, every questions is welcome and might make a good example for our
docs.

Best regards from black forest,
Michael
