Maybe about a year ago, I committed to open sourcing Dexter so that it can live on (hopefully) forever.  Today I am announcing a major step in that direction: I've open sourced all of the Dexter firmware (used by the two microcontrollers on the Dexter PCB).

To build everything, go here: https://github.com/RulecityLLC/DexterBuilder

The Dexter-specific stuff is here: https://github.com/RulecityLLC/DexterFirmware .

The laserdisc player command interpreters (shared with Daphne) are here: https://github.com/RulecityLLC/LaserdiscPlayerCommandInterpreters

And the abstract laserdisc player state machine (with VBI compaction) also shared by Dexter and Daphne is here: https://github.com/RulecityLLC/LaserdiscPlayerAbstract .

With all of this, anyone can modify the code that runs on the two microcontrollers on the Dexter PCB, including fixing bugs and/or adding enhancements.

Also, if anyone still needs a Dexter, Shaun Wood will have some for sale.  Send him an email at sh...@wood1st.com for more info.
