Hi everyone,

I have a need to develop an application that allows users to create rules such as:

If [a ticket] is created
Then send email to owner

While I believe Ruleby fits this paradigm pretty well I got stuck in the dynamic nature of the rule. The rules are created by the end user and need to be checked every so often (let's say every 24h). Is it possible to created dynamic rules using Ruleby?

Is this kind of problem a good fit for Ruleby or even a Rule engine at all?

Thanks

Filipe Moreira

This kind of thing should be supported, but it's one of the least tested features.  I would anticipate a lot of bugs creeping up.

The reason it's tricky is that when a fact is added to the system, it's hashed by how it's attributes align with the conditions in each rule.  When the rule changes (or new ones are added), those hashes have to change.

You can try it.  Just assert a rule after you've assert some facts, and see what happens.
