Hi Gary

In response to your email on the letter from Nigel Melville to the TAU Presidents.

This is to confirm that we are working with the USA Rugby guys on the South All Star Tournament – they made an error by the way it is in North Carolina not South Carolina although it is actually only in NC by about a mile! It is near Charlotte at the same venue as last year. It will be held either the 13th & 14th or 20th & 21st of June, we should have the date confirmed shortly.

The format is being dictated by the USA High Performance guys.

North Carolina is of course committed to this.

We are also looking at simultaneously having a competition for U19 girls and a boys U15 Tournament.

Let me know what else you need.

Cheers

Jonathan Worrall

Hi Gary. Gary Giepert from La and the Deep South. Our only imput would be that the South LAU tournament be more centrally located in the territory. The Carolinas are a 12 -14 hour drive from La. Nashville and Atlanta are still 7 to 8 hours but are centrally located in the Union. A seven to eight hour drive is more palatable than a 12-14 hour drive.

I am Jerry Malina coach of the Louisiana Exiles u-19 program.  We have been going to the Rocky Mountain premiere u-19 Challenge in Denver for the past 5 years or so. Does this format eliminate these tournaments? We have enjoyed the competition there and were hoping to defend our 3 consecutive titles. I would also question the location of this tournament on the north east edge of an extremely large territory.  We would probably be forced to fly rather than deal with a 26-28 hour round trip. If the Colorado tournament still exists we would not be able to afford 2 flights.

Can someone post the birthday cutoff for the different age grades for
2009?

I believe that u-20's have to be born in the calender year 1989 or later and u-19 1990 or later.

For All Star and Junior Eagle players we have to follow the IRB regulations. That uses January 1st as the eligibility date.

For All Stars the U19 date (competing for selection for next years Junior World Cup Eagles at U20) is therefore Under the age of 19 on January 1st 2009.
