USA Rugby Develops Decentralized Curriculum for Non-Contact Rugby

BOULDER, Colo. – Due to the increasing need and desire for grassroots and youth rugby, USA Rugby has created a decentralized curriculum for Non-Contact Rugby (NCR). This decentralized model will allow individual trainers and organizations the freedom to schedule and conduct their own NCR training. Additionally, it provides more opportunities for parents and volunteers to learn how to effectively and safely coach NCR.

USA Rugby will partner with organizations from around the country to share this curriculum.  Non-Contact Rugby workshops will be delivered by authorized NCR trainers who are nominated by local governance and/or state-based organization representatives.

NCR trainers will be responsible for organizing, administering, and tracking attendance at NCR workshops.  USA Rugby has created the curriculum and will be responsible for updating and maintaining all content and materials.

The NCR curriculum consists of three two-hour sessions where participants will learn about player-centered coaching strategies and game decision-making. Participants will spend the majority of time applying their knowledge and skills during coaching and practice planning sessions.

To become an authorized NCR trainer and administer workshops, individuals must:
  • Be nominated by a local administrator
