Hello everyone,
this is basically a repost of our previous looking for talks email - the backlog for July and onward is rather empty. No talks - no meetup. We need you and your talks and ideas to run a successful meetup :)
We love having first time speakers
- I strongly believe of the purpose of this user group to be a safe
space for people new to speaking at meetups. Hell, I've given my first
public talk here (11 years ago...). Or to do practice runs for talks.
While I know we have a lot of very high quality talks, not every talk needs to be super polished. Hell, I've given talks I threw together in an hour before or comprised of terrible drawings.
And perhaps most importantly, while we are the Ruby user group we always welcomed a wide array of topics as long as they are at least a bit related to Ruby/programming/web development:
* other programming languages, be welcome!
* social & leadership skills, health topics - we'd love to hear about it!
* game development, embedded systems...
* but of course we also love our Ruby :)
* ...your imagination is the limit! Just get in touch and ask us!
Hell, I've given talks about Crystal and how Go (game!) engines work!
If
you're unsure about a talk or topic just feel free to reach out and we
can talk about it. But, I'll most likely tell you it's a good idea
anyhow because it is... even if something was shown before, what wasn't
shown before is your unique perspective formed by your unique
experiences.
Cheers + thanks,
Tobi
