My Ruckus 2211 will only connect to GoogleWiFi using ethernet, it
won't connect using the WiFi in my laptop although I have gone through
and used the directions (I am connecting to a MacBook Pro using
Leopard) that ExpressNets gave me. Something is obviously wrong but I
can't tell if the signal just isn't strong enough to my apartment in
Mtn. View or if the information is somehow wrong in my computer. Can
you help me figure out how to tell what exactly is wrong with the
WiFi?
thanks for any info you can provide.

Are you sure you have the ''dual-zone' version ? Ruckus originally
made 2 versions of the 2211, dubbed ''single-zone'' and ''dual-zone''.
The dual zone product (the functionality of which is now standard on
all 2211s) acts as both a bridge to connect to the metro network (in
your case Googlewifi) and it also acts an Access point for your home
so your laptop can wirelessly connect to it. In the case of the
''single-zone'' version, the product only had the bridging function to
connect to the metro wifi network. The client device (i.e. your
laptop) MUST connect via ethernet to the 2211 if you have this single-
zone version. What does the product say on the back (part number wise)
and when you login, what version of software are you running ? When
did you buy the device ?

Interesting. I just bought it 2 weeks ago, but the salesman did tell
me it was the "older, but still just as good" version of the ruckus
system.
I did at one point get it to connect wirelessly to Google WiFi, but
the connection was so poor that it was virtually worthless. Is this
basically because the signal in my area is too weak for me to pick it
up well enough through this Ruckus device, or because the Ruckus
device I purchased isn't powerful enough to boost the signal enough so
that I can pick it up wirelessly?

I don't want to buy another device if I live in an area where I'm not
going to be able to pick up the signal regardless of what modem, or
whatever you call it, I have. I can see on the google wi fil map that
there are two towers in my area, one on each end of the
street...should that be sending a strong enough signal to an apartment
building? Who knows.

Anyway, thanks very much for your answer, that was very helpful. I
can't tell which number you are talking about on the Ruckus itself but
I think I do have the dual zone version as I was once able to connect
wirelessly, the connection was just so poor it was unusable.

If you have any more info you can offer at this point I'd really
appreciate it! Meanwhile, I continue to drag my Ruckus and the cable
all over the apartment, stupid and weird, but workable!
