Hi all,

I installed the Ruckus M2211 out of the box. Have not been able to
access any wireless router yet. The GoogleWiFi transmitter is about 50
yards from my apartment - line of sight OK, except for a tree. My
normal laptop wireless can "see" the signal - though not particularly
well. I have a Hawking hi-gain antenna that is pretty usable,
especially if I place it on the balcony. I have the settings of the
M2211 pretty much in default mode, except for specifiying the SSID to
GoogleWiFi.

I have a "bad air" indicator and the survey indicates only a single
local router - the closest one with the best signal I presume. My
laptop can see about four others including the GoogleWiFi on occasion,
the Hawking can see about 5 more beyond that, including GoogleWiFi.

I updated to the new firmware. It had no effect on the results.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

hmm weird. you place the ruckus close to where you had your antenna?
also when you do a "rescan" it take a minute or so to populate the
ap's.

I have placed the ruckus just about everywhere with multiple rescans.
This includes inside my apartment and even on the balcony which has
line-of-sight to the GoogleWiFi box.

okay, i dont know what to tell you. i wonder if its defective. on mine,
i can see like 10 or more ap's from my neighbors and 4-5 googlewifi
depending on noise. my closest one is about one-short block away and i
get about a 10-18 snr on that. was your unit new? sealed? when i got
mine, it was a return, all the packaging were open.

Could you get the support information from maintenance->support and
email to sup...@ruckuswireless.com please?

You can just copy and paste the contents on the support window to a
file and attach it to the email.

Regards

The box was open. That is, the little plastic seal was already cut. Sounds like it is defective.

David,

Have you had a chance to return and pick up a new device?

Yes I did, and the new one is working just fine. Definitely a big improvement on other systems I have tried (lots of them).
Thanks!
