I have been getting good internet performance in the AM from my
MM2211, but in the afternoon it's unusable and I notice the transmit
retry count is 10-20x good packets.

This is common for high contention based systems. As more people access the network, the more retries you are likely to see. You may experience times of 50%+ packet errors.

I've been experimenting with static antenna setting and it seems like
there a small number of antennas that give good RSSI, but only one of
them gives usable performance.

And how have you been experimenting with static antenna settings?

there are some commads if you telnet into the modem, type help to see
a list.
I'm still not convinced this helps any, see how it goes during the
week.

If you make changes to these settings, you will cause more problems that
you will have trouble repairing. Please DO NOT change any settings from
the CLI.

Especially the antenna settings. We make antenna selections on a
microsecond time scale and DO NOT advocate making static antenna
changes.

ok, resetting to factory defaults.

Probably a good idea. If you have problems, send me the support.txt file which you can collect from the web interface.

login/pass to telnet?

Same as the http interface, but I don't think mucking with those
settings helped any. I think just finding a good location for the
modem with SNR around 30db helps. I taped mine down so it can't move,
and after a couple days it seems good enough to cancel my DSL, yippy!

Agreed. I would not suggest changing or tinkering with the CLI.

Should be good with a SNR of 20+

I think it would be cool if there was tool to view the mesh
performance, latency, packet loss, etc.. like an overlay on the google
map.

I think that is a good idea but since we are just a client in the mesh,
we do not have all this info. This would be a good request for Google.
They have this but its for their use.
