Hi Kenneth
Hope all is well on your end. Tomorrow night Hacks/Hackers Joburg and Cape Town in conjunction with the
Indigo Trust, the funders of the
People's Assembly tool, and Code for South Africa whose Know Your Hood API (application programming interface - think of it like a database of information that you can use in your own personally built app) was used by the
Mail and Guardian recently.
The meet up itself is a precursor to a larger hacks/hackers election hackthon (much like the one the Global Editors' Network) hosted in Cape Town last year. We hope to use the API's during our election hackathon so it would be beneficial to see and hear from the people behind them.
I thought this would be a great opportunity for Ruby devs and other language devs to hear about some civic tech API's they could use to build tools. If you could spread of this around it would be greatly appreciated.
As per usual snacks and drinks will be made freely available and we'd appreciate the attendance and support.
Thanks and regards
Siya
