The ⎋ key

to Ruby on Rails: TextMate

Hi there,

I saw the ⎋ key is used for a few shortcuts - first discovered in
fixtures. What is this key? Is it the help key? My macbook air
doesn't seem to have one. Is there another key combo that triggers
this on keyboards without a help key?
