Hello all,

I'll make this quick because I know you're all busy.

I just wanted to invite you to check out a new tool that we've just launched for the Ruby on Rails community. We fully expect that it'll be a nice compliment to our already vibrant community. You can learn more at http://railsdeveloper.com.  Have fun!

Cheers,
Robby

Sorry but you blew it at "Rails Developer aims to leverage the
mindshare ". *LEVERAGE*, *MINDSHARE*. WTF are you talking about?

This is a community of programmers not suits, weasel speak is not
looked upon favourably. In fact I have now spent more time writing
this email than reading your site.

First impressions and understanding your market (or 'community' as you
call it) are important and for me you blew it.

Bye :)

Yeah, I know what you mean here, Peter. The wording doesn't bother me
as much; I just don't see what Rails Developer offers that this list,
WorkingWithRails.com, or Ohloh don't.

(I signed up, though. We'll see if I notice something else.)

From the bottom of my heart, thanks for pointing out how much I sounded like a weasel.

I really should learn to remove "leverage" from my vocabulary when speaking with developers. Perhaps I spend too much time talking with clients these days... ;-)

Thanks again for the feedback. I hope you'll forgive me and review the site in more depth... when the time is right.

Cheers,
Robby

Marnen,

I'm not too familiar with Ohloh (will have to look it over) but with regard to WWR, it seems pretty obvious that the site isn't being actively maintained anymore.

It's unfortunate because it had potential (and possibly still does).  I know that the original developer behind it was extremely sharp and motivated, but think he's with another company now (that doesn't own WWR). I'm sure there are many reasons that lead towards this and we started out with a different set of goals, which we outlined a bit here:

We hope you get a chance to give it a whirl. :-)

Cheers,
Robby
