[rubyologists] Next meetup?

Hi Everyone,

It seems like there's been too much of nothing going on with

the group activities here on LKRUG. It's almost as if everyone

forgot about it. ;)

So can we set a date for a meetup?

And the initial action plans are significantly off by now. So we

need some adjustments too, specially regarding the things

mentioned in this thread: http://is.gd/bgRmg It's high time we

have a proper website, and ongoing activities.

On the plus side I see most of you have been productive and/

or active in FOSS work too. I know everyone's got work and

other commitments, but let's try to spare sometime to keep

this community working.

Hi Gaveen,

Thanks for trying to ignite the fire again :)

This month(April) most of us were away from town due to holidays, so that was the reason for skipping this month's meeting.
However, let's schedule the meeting for May on the last week of the month, so there is enough time to get prepared and pass the message to all well in-advance.

Also, regarding the site let's try to at least put a one page site with the following:
- About Us
- Next Meeting date
- Location (with map)
- Links to Google Group, Twitter

Regarding website, using my basic design and coding knowledge, I did
a simple website with dummy content and you can check it here -

What's your thoughts?

I think we should live something before next meet-up and We can
discuss other options when we meet.

Sorry for the late reply. I've been busy with my family (as you all know - father's eye surgery) stuff and work.

@Amila - Site looks good. 

Lakashan requested me to do design a mockup for the site. But couldn't get in to that. Please apologize myself guys.

I'm ok, but people going out of Colombo for the Vesak holiday

(28 & 29) might have a problem with that. So perhaps we can

BTW, since Amila has come up with a design for the site, shall we proceed to add content and launch the site? Anyone would like to take the responsibility of doing the content for the site?

Hey chim,

Thanks for digging up the thread. Brought back old memories :) I'm sure that there must be much more rails devs around now compared to back then.

Myself Sameera and Lakshan are now overseas (wait I think Lakshan is back in SL during December). If not I'd be super interested to attend my self.

Your best bet would be find out others who are in go ruby but don't know about this Meetup. Take the lead.

Hey Chim,

Thanks for the msg and checking for the next meetup. As Yasith said , brings back the good old memories. Unfortunately most of us are overseas now and the group is not active.

However , we started this group to create a ruby community in SL, which makes easy for the community to know each other, developers to find jobs, vise versa. By the time I was leaving SL back in 2013, ruby was becoming more main stream, yet there were no known events like monthly meetups.

So, if you could take the lead, we are more than happy to help you to build the community again. I personally can let me friends in SL know about the meetup and try to make the awareness. Let us know. Coz its really impressive to see the ruby community here (Sydney) and would be fantastic if we can do the same back in SL. If you are keen to take the challenge, I believe we can make u an admin of the group too ;)

On  a side note, I see you running a mobile development service, congrats :), wondering what are your thoughts on http://ionicframework.com/. I'm a big fan/advocate of ionic and AFAIK there is a meetup group in SL too. If you
haven't check ionic yet, probably its worth a look. :)
