Ayo,

two good talks last night - cheers Luke & Fiona. Sorry I arrived late and left early.

Idea for next/feature meetup - help get some gems ready for Rails 4? I think I remember reading on the list that we've done something similar (hacking on gems in groups for a couple of hours) before - did it work well?

I'm not sure how we'd identify what was in need of work (probably makes sense to get a hitlist ahead of time) - is there an easy way to get a list of all gems which depend on rails ~>3.2 or one of its components?

Chris.

The only straight forward way I would guess would be to extract the data
from the Gemfile.lock file under the "GEM spec:" section

Hm,

If people are interested in doing it, we could take a look through our personal/work projects and get a 'hitlist' together?

Hacking sounds like a good idea.  I'm not sure which gems we should focus on, but if I get time I'll try making a rails 4 upgrade branch on one of my work apps and see which gems cause trouble.

Alternatively, we could pair up and do some "programming practise", maybe taking a mini-project from cyber-dojo.com, or writing a simple gem from scratch.  It would be test-driven, of course.  Might be interesting if a few pairs choose the same project so we can regroup to explore the alternative implementation paths.
