Upgrade Linux Gentoo Server Assistance

Hi Guys,

I have a rails 2 application running on an old version of Gentoo Linux.  I need to upgrade the various software packages(ssl, nginx) but its proving very difficult

because the gentoo version is so old and its bit beyond my linux skills.

Is anyone available for some extra work to guide me through this?

Can be done over Skype etc..

Hi Phil,

The budget wouldn't be available to move this application to a new server I feel. Its an older rails application with the associated gems, along with the payment gateway software installed(xpay), sphinx search server and various other packages to allow the application to work.  The server has failed the latest security metrics and to pass I need to upgrade ssl, nginx and a couple of other software packages.  I can't upgrade these because the gentoo linux version is so old its recommending upgrading the complete OS(a bit out of my reach). The bank charges more money if your e-commerce application doesn't pass the security metrics test hence to need for this piece of work.

The application is currently being upgraded to rails 4 and will eventually move to a new platform but for the time being we need to keep the existing one going for as little cost as possible until the new server and upgraded application is in place.

The current application is running on EC2 so we can make an image and play around with it without affecting the live site.
