Chat in Rails 4

Has anyone gotten the ActionController::Live, aka SSE functionality working in a Rails 4 app?

I've been playing with it, and gotten the basic demos working that I've seen on the web, but there are serious problems with my demo that would keep it from being deployed.

I think some of the problems are probably server-related, but I'm not sure how to debug.

I was wondering if anyone has taken that feature past the demo phase and could provide insight. Or even would have an idea of who I could ask for help.
