Hello,

I'm trying to download the Ruby Installer for Windows  from https://rubyinstaller.org/downloads/. However, it fails every time with a network error or a forbidden error.
I googled a bit and found the following document - https://rubyinstaller.org/2010/10/23/Having-issues-with-downloads.html. This mentions changing the download URL somehow but does not indicate what exactly needs to be done.

Can someone please help me?

Thanks in advance!

Are you still having trouble? I was able to download it in ~ 5 mins just now...

Likewise.. it took a few seconds to download the 135MB package for Ruby
2.7 - I wonder what issue you might be facing...

Best Regards,

You can install WSL(Windows Sub-Systems for Linux) from Windows store and configure the environment to run your Ruby app.
After doing that, you can lunch your WSL. From the terminal(Ubuntu), your Windows folders and files are mounted through /mnt/c/Users

Having a Ruby stable environment on Windows is not easy. I don't know if it's even possible.

Thank you everyone for the responses. It seems to work now but I am using in Visual Studio Code and added some extensions, and it seems to work but I don't know if it is just working because it's in Visual Studio Code. So, I don't know if I even needed to put it on windows. I was just trying to learn it because I am trying to learn Liquid for my Shopify site and found something that said Liquid is based off Ruby. Plus, I thought it would be cool to learn and would help me grasp JavaScript better. I would like to learn as much as possible.

But thank you all very much!

It is no problem to develop with Ruby in windows, i do it all the time. Support is better with every version.
Some gems give problems, but when I use Linux with Ruby it's the same story...
WSL is no solution, here in Europe 95% of people I know use Windows, even in professional context.
I dare say, would Ruby devs give more attention to Windows support a lot more people would use Ruby.
It's an exellent replacement for Vbscript and Powershell and the like.

Kind regards
