no such file to load -- auto_gem (LoadError)

Hi all:

The latest compiled ruby runs fine on my system.

ruby 1.9.2dev (2009-02-26 trunk 22651) [i686-linux]

However, when i run 'irb' the following error is seen.

/data/build/rubysvn/bin/ruby:0:in `require': no such file to
load -- auto_gem (LoadError)

I suspect this is some kind of Path issue. Any suggestions how i
can fix this ?
