Hi All,

I finally can confirm a date for a RoR Coding Grace workshop (venue tbc).

When: Sat Aug 23rd (11:00 - 16:00)

Expected numbers: Up to 15 people (but depends on the venue)

Anyone interested? Lunch will be included for mentors as well. :-)
I have one mentor so far.

It's a short session (includes lunch), if people can suggest content for that short period?

I appreciate all the help so far from everyone.

Cheers,

Hi Vicky, what kinds of RoR skills do you need? I have used Rails(1..3) in anger, but have yet to even download Rails4 - I am postponing that pain as long as I can. I've had to convert a bunch of old sites from Rails1 to Rails2 and then to Rails3 and am in no hurry to do that again. I wouldn't necessarily describe myself as "wrote the book" but would definitely say i "had the scars." My most recent project is http://wrsc2014.com which is Rails3.2 and Twitter Bootstrap.

Hi Dermot,

Basic Ruby on Rails for people who don't have any background in programming upwards. :-)

If you are still interested, ping me off list.

Thanks in advance,

This is a great initiative, Vicky. Nice one! It's fantastic to see Ruby/Rails skills being taught and put out there. Would be great to see a good showing from people stepping forward as mentors.

For the Ruby side of things I remember there used to be a good set of tutorials and slides on github. Basically they covered a complete Ruby course, written in Markdown I think, but I can't remember the link to it. Does anyone remember this or have something similar?

Daniel Kehoe 's tutorials are well worth a look.

Thanks for that Kevin, Paul. They weren't what I was trying to track down but they look like useful resources! Cheers!

Thank you all for the replies. :-)

I'll note the links for the folks who will be helping out, it's a 4 hour session, but if it gets popular, I can run a follow-on session.

Cheers,
