Reading a leading zero appended Number column

Hi,

I have a xlsx file which I have attached. The upc column is actually of Number type but has leading zeros appended. When I open it in open office, it still shows the leading zeros. Roo truncates them and returns just the integer.

I understand this is a expected behavior since the column is of data type Number. I just wanted to know, if there is a method or way, where I can access the raw value of a cell, without being typecasted?
