Awesome! :) I'm not sure if the topics for presentation has been
selected already, but i would like to get some idea from the

I think it is open to everyone, newbie and nobie.

Perhaps, let's start to pick the topics that we will discuss in the
meetup. We're open for suggestion, any ideas, from ruby programming,
linux hosting, capistrano deployment, memcache support, rails, merb,
openid, what else? And also i think some presentation about what
companies are doing with RoR.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Yes, thats a great idea Mark.
The purpose of this May meetup is to get to know everyone and get
everyone's suggestions on what topics will be discussed for the
upcoming months.

Beginners are certainly welcome to join. =)

I think the meetup is open to everyone, anyone. Perhaps, we should get
a head count on who plans on going to the Cebu meetup, so we'll have
an idea how many.

From what i gather, i think it's going to be a meet and greet meetup,
initially. But i think if there are some who wants to insert some
technical discussion, i think it will be nice.

Thanks!

Try to ask Greg Moreno, Botp Pena, or others regarding adding the page for the Cebu RUG Meet.

I am not the moderator of the group. :)
Botp is our moderator.

Page creation/edit was disabled because it was being used by spammers.

Yep, about Merb. What do you think would be nice to talk about Merb?
Apart from being yet-another-web-framework?

It would be nice to focus on a few topics about Merb, and much better
if we talk about something everyone wanted to know. :)

Yo, yep, i'll try to give something substantial. I'll focus on the
areas where it might be good to try merb.

Thanks!

Halo everyone, mga taga Sugbo and those who are in Cebu tomorrow, or
will be in Cebu tomorrow, we'd like to invite you all to come and join
us at the meetup. We'll make sure it's going to be worthwhile, we'll
also give some time for an open discussion, where everyone can post a
question and someone else can answer it (it will be moderated so it's
not so chaotic and give everyone a chance to stand-up).

We're planning to have this as the start of the many meetups to happen
later on. There's a lot of talk about Ruby, Rails, Merb, Rack, Thin,
Mongrel, etc., lotsa topics :) We'll make sure there's a lot of
technical discussions, so it will be interesting for programmers and
the like.

Hope to see lots of you there.

Thanks!

Ok, here's an outline i made for the Merb talk tomorrow:

- What is Merb?
- The motivation behind Merb
- Merb compared to Rails
- What's new with Merb now (merb 0.9 compared to stable merb 0.5.9)
- How is working with Merb
- With the state of Merb now, why should i care?
- Interesting ideas related to Merb

Hopefully, i can also show an actual demo of a Merb app from creation
to running it, and also some modifications. We are only using Merb on
two of our apps, and i think i can also show that. I'm targeting about
30 mins to 45 mins talk.

Thanks!

Sadly, I forgot to go. Was dealing with a pressing issue at the office (pertinent data loss).

There's always a next time :)
