Hello Nubies and Fellow Rubyists,

We will need moderators for Ruby Nuby and our website as leaders
within the group will need to focus on their areas as we scale. Ruby
Nuby has seen tremendous growth but we are going to grow EXPONENTIALLY
faster.

We also need rules as we use Google groups and transition soon to the
forums that will be hosted with the Ruby Nuby website. What rules
should we have?

We can use short term moderators yet we will need long term moderators
who are willing to take this as a job.

Long term moderators must be willing to learn about managing forums by
reading the excellent(most recommended) book, Managing Forums Online
Forums by Patrick O'Keefe and others. Once we have a team in place,
I could probably arrange some training with someone I know who
personally manages a forum of 1.2 million users.

Right now, I need someone to notify me of timely issues or important
threads if I don't get to them in 24 hours due to concentrating on
organizational things. As we grow, I will be able to spend less and
less time in the forums and will need someone or others to pick up the
baton.

thanks
Malcolm Arnold

Hey Malcom,

I am interested in being a moderator.  Let me know what I need to do.

I'd be interested as well. I'm interested in content curation in general.

I terms of rules, I think we should tag certain posts with a category
in the Subject, for instance job postings could include [JOB] in the
Subject.

That way people could filter emails accordingly.

Good suggestions, guys.

I'll add you as moderators as soon as I get back to my home-office. Shouldn't be long... Then we can discuss regulations in more depth. Looking forward to it.

Free copy to use of excellent(most recommended) book, Managing Forums
Online
Forums by Patrick O'Keefe.
Please let me know if you would like to borrow it.

I spent a GREAT deal of time researching the best book on this subject
due to why I wanted to learn RoR in the first place. See the post of
how Ruby Nuby came about.

Malcolm
