For those of us who haven't dusted off our Ruby interpreters in a few years, what version should we be working with?  Latest 1.8?  Latest 1.9?

I use regular old Ruby 1.8.7. I also have ree 1.8.7, ruby 1.9.2, and a JRuby installed for testing gem compatibility.

Mike,
Best thing to do is to install rvm [1] to allow you to use multiple
rubies and have a separate gemset for each project. I'm deploying
under Ruby Enterprise Edition, but often try to test things with 1.9.2
as well.
