Hello, all. I'm looking to revive a Ruby meetup in Lexington, Kentucky. It's a small city, and the previous incarnation of the meetup had only a handful of attendees at any given meeting, with about 3 of us being regulars.
As we restart the meetup, what are some things we could do that would work well with the small number of attendees? Here are some things I've been thinking about. A couple of them recently came up in a recent post by Eric in this group.
- Mob programming, or whatever you call pairing with more than two people involved
- Watch parties
- Occasionally meeting in conjunction with another local tech group
- Members presenting on a personal project
- Maybe fewer members means fewer opportunities for this, but on the other hand, the smaller group and potentially less formal setting might encourage members to present things they otherwise wouldn't.
Thoughts? What would you add to this list?
