I have to disagree with this thread. I'm from a rock-n-roll background but I have broad horizons - and I know that the hip-hop on Playback is different from that on Radio Los Santos. I did grow up with NWA and the resulting projects which make up most of the music on RLS.
The wide range of music has opened me to more varied genres. I never heard most of the songs on, say, SF-UR or K-JAH before getting the game. You can't deny that Dre and Snoop make a good soundtrack for hoo-rides in South Central Los Santos, no matter what your favorite kind of music really is. K-Rose fits the inclusion of the San Andreas countryside in addition to the large cities. It would have been kind of goofy to jack a Walton (farm truck) and hear Tupac or Ozzy Osbourne.
Hey idiot music can be listened to when its not in the game. You can listen to your radio(der now thats uh bright idear.) Also you can turn the radio off.I don't like WCTR, Master Sounds, CSR 103.9. Everything is good. My favorites are Bounce FM, Playback, and Radio X. Also the X-box version lets you put your own music on.
Off topic. I made my own words to a song(Horse With No Name) I floated down a river on a horse with no legs it felt good to be out of the pain. In the desert you can't remember your name cause there aint no one to remember your name.
Anyway if you dont like the music it is simply because you dont like the music from the time period. The thing about San Andreas is that the music is not new nor is it classic so it falls into the categorie of yesterday's hits and nobody cares about them now and wont untill they are old and classics. Then maybe you will appreciate them as you did with Vice City.
For your information I wasn't even alive when the music featured in VC would have been released, but I find it wierd how I liked VC radio stations more than SA radio stations - I guess it's just the quality of VC radio compared to SA.
GTA: San Andreas is an Awesome game, in basically everyway, but the radio stations i agree, they are all sh*tty, the only one i listen to is K-DST is because it is the most like GTA: Vice City, that soundtrack was awesome, in that game all the stations were good, K-DST is the best because its Classic Rock, and reminds me the most of VICE CITY
To be honest i didn't like Vice City's radio line-up that much...but on San Andreas when a decent song comes on Radio Los Santos like one by N.W.A or Eazy-E, Ice Cube i can't turn the channel over coz i like those songs that much even though i'm into more heavy metal and rock than rap...but yeah the radio stations on SA do get kinda boring and old once you've heard everything on them.
I remember leaping into the Mother ship on my First journey to San Fiero, riding with an old hippie, listening to a Hippie bands song. It seemed to have happened on purpose....Perfect. Just set the tone brilliantly.
Last but not least, they give you the beautifull option to have all your mp3's in game so there is no need to complain about the offer and therefor this topic is completely useless (my words included )
And doing driving school where the tests are7-40 seconds, the radio (usually) goes from one song to another during the time between failing and retrying things. Like say the 180: I go and do the stuff while Soundgarden is on, I fail the test, I retry, and then its the next song on the station.
just like the vice city stations , wave 103 would be a bit late at this time, not sure about fever 105, but lets say if flash fm and/or emotion 98.3 was in san andreas this is what they could had being playin for 1992 with a few more songs inclueded,
Plus how come the other stations you made feature hundreds of songs while for RLS/Playback (for some reason you put them together), you only put 10 songs. And the only good one out of it is The Ave, which also happens to be one of Run DMC's worse songs.
Anyways, on topic, I thought SA's soundtrack was near perfect. I only care about the hip hop stations and for SA - Rockstar did it perfectly. And not only that but the other stations also manage to keep me interested if I want to have a change for some new jack swing, funk, soul, house.
What I find funny is how some of the voice actors, whether they played DJs or characters in the story, who are also recording artists, didn't have songs in the game. Sure, you had Axl Rose play a DJ and "Welcome To The Jungle" was in the game. Kid Frost played T-Bone Mendez and "La Raza" was a song on Radio Los Santos. Michael Bivins was the DJ for CSR, and a Bell Biv Devoe song was on that station (I find it funny how a lot of songs from New Edition members were on the playlist, yet a song from the whole group wasn't in the game). MC Eiht played Ryder, and "Hood Took Me Under" from Compton's Most Wanted was in the game. Chuck D played the DJ for Playback, and "Rebel Without a Pause" was in that game.
There could have been a song from Ice-T, who played Madd Dogg. I think "Colors" or "6 In The Morning" would have been perfect, maybe even "High Rollers." Also, being that George Clinton played the DJ for Bounce FM, I would have liked a Parliament or Funkadelic song to be in the game. I think "You Can't Play With My Yo-Yo" from Yo-Yo, who played Kendl, would have been perfect for the game.
some more Tupac and Too $hort songs on radio LS would have been great, Radio X could have some pearl jam and more guns 'n roses, SF-UR could have more great dance songs that used to play in bars and K-DST would been better with some ZZ Top.
Exactly. Nirvana was responsible for the grunge/alternative rock movement in 1991 and 1992. Wonder why they didn't have at least one track in Radio X. Also, the station is missing Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Metallica.
Don't forget Redman and Leaders of the New School in Playback FM. Also, CSR should have Jade's Don't Walk Away (1993) on there as well. And Cece Peniston's Finally would fit the SF-UR station perfectly.
I think San Andreas should've been set in 1993 instead of 1992. I mean it's very disappointing that we have two songs from Dre in RLS and none for Snoop himself. Most of Snoop's own songs would've fit the theme of the game perfectly.
It really depends on the station. Radio Los Santos was perfect to me. It had all the songs that complemented the early 90s west coast feel in Los Santos. Playback FM was a letdown for me. I really thought we were gonna have some Redman, EPMD, The Tribe, etc. Radio X was almost perfect. All they were missing was Nirvana and Pearl Jam and the soundtrack would've been perfect. CSR was ok, but it was also missing TLC. I mean how do you have SWV and En Vogue on the station but not TLC? That's like a crime to exclude TLC from a 90s R&B station. Also, Mary J. Blige would've fit perfectly for the station since she is the queen of hip hop soul. The rest of the stations are perfect the way they are though.
