**I recommend Reinert Construction, they are excellent and reasonably priced. I’ve used them on my commercial buildings and they have done beautiful work at some of my friends’ homes. I have a link below to their website that has pictures and their contact info.
**I would highly recommend Chris Gibson, a general contractor. His cell number is
919-417-2302.
Chris took out a “structural” wall in our home several years ago and put in a steel beam so we now have one large and beautiful family room. He and his partner John just finished expanding and enclosing (to a 3 season room) our back porch. Chris also does plumbing and electrical.
Chris and John are professional, extremely talented, diligent, trustworthy and two very nice and hard-working men.
** Todd was a contractor out in California, and has recently moved out here to NC. Building decks was one of his specialties. If you’d like to discuss the project with him, you can reach him at
todds...@gmail.com or at

**You may want to try Craig Braswell:

**This company did a fantastic job on our screened porch. Project was completed on-time and on budget. Jim's craftmanship is superb. One of his specialties is skylights, but he can do any home improvement job needed. Give him a call at

1. I used Garuda Decks (
www.garuda-decks.com) and they did a gorgeous job. Honest to god, I wish I’d taken a photo of the plywood they used because I’ve never seen plywood that beautiful.
I went out on 4 bids and they were the highest bidder—but they’re references provided glowing referrals and I decided to go with them because I wanted this done right and I didn’t want to deal with a lot of problems (I was traveling much of the time that construction was going on). Owner Gary Weiker provided a complete, detailed proposal with CAD drawings and references, provided great suggestions based on my particular needs/situation, and came in right on budget even though I added a few extras. They expected to be done Christmas week (meaning a two-week construction window) but the heavy rains over the holidays turned my construction site into a muddy lake so that slowed them down. They unrolled plastic to keep out of the mud and draped the in-process porch with tarps to continue construction and painting.
The people who work for Garuda were nice, pleasant, professional, and took great pride in their work, as did the contractors that he used. This was a full-fledged operation with everyone showing up when they said and doing a great job. Heck, it was even fun. The job included painting the porch, roofing, 4 skylights (Gary’s recommendation—and so wonderful that the porch is light even on overcast days), roofing, electrical, gutters, and closing in the underside of the porch and deck with framed lattice, too.
Real pros, and no BS. You won’t be disappointed.

2. My buddy Wynn Wheelis owns a company. He did the deck on our old house and I’ll be working with him soon on a deck for my new house. Feel free to give him a call a-

Best of luck with your deck. - Angy
3. J. Trent & Associates LLC (see about & services) handles just about everything to do with homes & property, including decks, with very high-quality work & an unlimited guarantee. They’ve been in the business 30+ years & are frequently called on to fix work that others (contractors, handymen, etc.) didn’t do properly the first time. I’ve been working directly with Trent, the owner, to arrange & prepare for upcoming major renovations on my home this or next month. Afterward, I plan to have him assess & handle many major inside projects.
He’ll come to your house to provide a free assessment & estimate based on the work you want & materials you choose. He fully stands behind all work. --Jamy
4. It has been almost 15 years now, so things may have changed, but we have been satisfied with the deck that we had built by these guys:
They are a franchise operation, but we compared prices and at that time they were no higher than local independent contractors. Also, they are big enough to have an engineering department at the home office that reviews all plans, which you don't get with the independents. -Otees
5. My son owns a company that builds screened porches and decks. He is pretty good :)
My son has a small company that builds custom screened porches and decks. He takes pride in his work and charges much less compared to larger companies that don't specialize in just screened porches and decks. Your porch and deck will be customized to your house. He's very good at coming up with several designs if you are not sure what you want.
Thanks,
Jill

(919) 763-6267 helped me extend my deck and did a great job. I am an engineer so I was able to make a drawing of the deck myself and Scott helped me submit it to the town. That helped offset some overhead that a company who did the deck would have charged me
