Hi @all,

I need to verify if rtpengine retransmits rtp packets and if yes, how to verify it.

Regards,
Vaibhav

What do you mean with "retransmit?" Retransmit after a packet was lost?
If so, then there is no such feature. Or are you just talking about the
normal relay/proxy operation? Then you could use Wireshark for example,
or just look at the in/out packet stats provided by rtpengine, depending
on what kind of verification you're looking for.

Hi Richard ,

Just clarify more about @Vaibhav Pandey  query , why he is saying retransmit because in rtpengine final stats we can see the in and out packet in a leg is nearly equal .
For example , if in pacet cout is 5977 the out is 5925 . But the next end point is here Freeswitch . In freeswitch we are getting a packet count of 11952 for the same session .

The inbound packet in FS is so high and FS is receiving packets from rtpengine only .

Thanks & Regards

Is this because you are seeing both sessions packet stats on the FreeSWITCH as its a B2BUA?

So the media between RTPengine and FreeSWITCH, then the leg out over FreeSWITCH to the next hop?

Thanks,

John.

That's not unusual for a normal call though. In the absence of any counter indications, media would be sent at regular intervals, say one packet every 20 ms, so once media is established you would expect roughly the same packet count in both in and out directions, even though they are two independent media flows.

But the next end point is here Freeswitch . In freeswitch we are getting a packet count of 11952 for the same session .

Perhaps FS is either combining the stats from two legs, or combining in and out directions?

Either way, the best way to see what's actually going on on the wire is with Wireshark.

Cheers
