TLS support for REdis connections?

Hi,

We were having problems connecting to Redis over TLS (ElastiCache Redis in AWS). A quick peek of the code looked like maybe TLS wasn't supported since the hiredis library looked like it had a separate connection function for TLS / SSL connections.

Is this something that _should_ already work? If not I would like to consider this a feature request to support TLS for Redis connections. Thanks!

You're quite correct in that this is not currently supported. Feature
request noted, although I don't have plans to tackle this myself in the
near future. Perhaps you feel like giving it a shot yourself (and then
submit a pull request), or maybe someone else on the list here wants to
volunteer.
