Dear Ramu

As discussed in the meeting,  Invoice is going to be raised in Nov-13, Lets first do the collection of funds and then place the work order. This will  give a fair idea of collection and we can do the allocation for funds for CCTV and Lift sensor accordingly.

Just for everybody's information, Of 35 flats of Block 1, 18 flats have given there consent on the note circulated last week for this project.

Regards/Sanjay

Yes Sanjay, the idea was to put owner name and mobile phone number if all are ok with that.
We are going to send a print out of list to each of you in the following format to choose 'name to display' and phone number to display. Name and phone number to display can be different from owner name and phone number.

Flat No. Owner Name Owner Phone No. Name to Display Phone No. to Display

Hi Vivek and Sanjay,

IMO, having mobile number on board will help you. For example, my gas booking got cancelled after the delivery guy visited my flat with cylinder when we were not at home. There were good chances that me or my wife were some where close to the township and would have arrived in time if the delivery guy had called our mobile number. Same would be the case with other courier/delivery services of mails, food, groceries, pizzas etc.
I don't see any harm for me in publishing my number on the board. Of course there would be some unsolicited calls but I believe there wold be some calls which help you in saving time and money.

I wonder what we going to gain by displaying just our names on the board!!!!

Any way we can go with majority opinion. One can very much opt for no phone number even if the majority decision is to go with phone number on board.

Thank you.

Dear Ramu

I am also not in favor of putting mobile number on the name board.

The example which you have mentioned can be handled thru block security. If they have an updated list then such or similar cases can be coordinated thru them and inconvenience to the resident can be avoided.

Secondly there is every possibility that for some trivial reason mobile number is changed. This will invite requested from the residents to get the number updated on the name board. I think that will be a bigger issue to handle.

Regarding

" I wonder what we going to gain by displaying just our names on the board!!!! " -

I believe that will help visitor/friends/guest in case they forget the flat number after reaching our block. This name board will be of great help to them.

My suggestion - If you can put Floor # also along with the flat number, that will help a lot. These being Duplex flats, visitors do get confused about the floor number. Person coming to flat number 202 generally goes to 2nd floor and rings the bell of the flat which in fact is # 102.

Think about it.

Regards
Sanjay Gautam

i like the suggestion of the floor number that said practicality wise people will not pay attention to it on the name board, my view something like that in lift will be more  useful.

phone numbers on the name board are more useful for "To Lets".

Thank you all for your views.

I too think that floor number problem can be handled more conveniently by changing the buttons in lifts. It was discussed with lift maintenance guys before and they said that numbers in lift buttons can be changed easily.

Good to put extension number also on the board.

Just realized some issues in case of rented flats. We are planning to put only owner names, this may not help the visitors who visiting the rented flats. How about putting the renters name below the owners name (in smaller font size)? Renters name can be sticked to board with removable sticker. Need not to worry about changing the renter name and phone numbers frequently. The guy who make the board can change the names or phone numbers by just paying Rs50/- per sticker with a phone call.

In all the societies where ever there are name boards it always has name of the Owners only. I have not seen names of the tenant anywhere.

Why are we trying to complicate this simple thing by putting so much information which is not warranted and then inviting recurring maintenance.

Please try to put the least variable information on the board.

Ramu - Not able to get the modification that can be done in the lift buttons to ease out floor # confusion. Can you please give some more details.

Thanks

Hi Sanjay, I understood your point. You are very right in your opinion and concerns you have with too much information on the name board.

We don't need much discussion and effort to do the things like others.

What we are trying here is to make the 'name board' more meaningful and useful for visitors and our selfs. If there is a good support from others we will proceed else we can go  back to usual ways, simple!

It is not at all a complicated thing if we know about it and manage well.

About floor number confusion solution, currently lift buttons are numbered 1, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. These will be changed to GU1, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Please note that any of you are not forced to put your info on the board. Why we should stop if there are good number of people who willing to put their details ?
FYI, so far 7 flats agreed to put their mobile number out of 13 flats that have signed in the distribution list. There are more people out there, need to count their opinion as well.

Dear Ramu

Thanks for your understanding.

I do agree that it need efforts and discussion for doing something new but if it serve any purpose. If existing system is in line with our need and is sustainable, I believe there is no point in reinventing the wheel.

Willingness of some residents is ok but for uniformity of information on the board, i think if its 100% agreement only then we should go about it, else it will not look good.

Is there any distribution list circulated to residents for this purpose also? I am sorry not aware of the same. Can you please once again send it across.

Regards/Sanjay

Sanjay, the block care taker will visit all the flats which were not signed yet with distributed list of papers again. The papers will be available at Security table as well, any one who missed can update there.
