Hi All,

Its been long time, hope you all are doing good.

All of you know the annoying issue of obscene writings in the lifts. Installing cctv cameras in lifts will stop this menace.
And also improves the general up keeping of lifts. Along with two lifts we can also go for two cameras in Lobby to cover both the stair cases.

And there are other improvements to be done, important of these are:
1. Residents name list board
2. Automatic Rescue Devices (ARDs) for lifts
3. Sensors for lifts.

Installing cctv cameras before any of these improvements will add the value to them.

I had talked to couple of vendors who install cctv cameras. The estimations coming around 35k. With just Rs1200/- contribution from each flat this can be accomplished. If you all agree, I can go ahead and finalize the vendor.

Estimation given by one vendor:
Item Quantity unit price price Optional
IR Dome Camera, 420 TVL 4 2200 8800
4 Channel DVR with 3G, USB, TV connectors 1 4800 4800
BNC Connectors 4 95 380
DVR Adaptor 1 1000 1000
Hard disk 1TB 1 5200 5200
BNC Cable bundle (3+1) type, long cable required for lifts. 6 1500 9000
Installation of lift camera 2 2000 4000
Installation lobby cameras 2 500 1000
UPS backup, optional 1 2000
2000

Total
34,180 36,180

Let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

Thanks & Regards
Ramu

Dear Ramu

Thanks for this information.

If I understood it correctly, the cost you mentioned is One time cost. Can you throw some light on few questions I have in mind.
1. It will definitely need maintenance in the future so what is the AMC cost going to be?
2. Where will the monitors for these cameras will be placed and who will be responsible for its monitoring?
3. For how long the data will be there in system for its retrieval?
4. Do you have comparative quotes from other Vendors? If yes, please share.

Regards
Sanjay Gautam

Yes, the cost mentioned is one time initial cost. We will get one year free AMC with installation. In my opinion we don't need AMC as the operation is simple, we just need to replace any non functional equipment. Cameras are relatively cheaper (Rs 2,200/- each). Average life of Camera they mentioned is 8 years. Other important equipment is DVR (4 channel) which would cost Rs 4,500/- to Rs6,500/- depend upon the make and features. This may also need to be replaced if any issues. Other thing is hard drive (Seagate 1TB), we can easily replace this ourselves any issues. Other things are wires, adopters and pins, those are not expensive.

Let us assume that the system completely need to be replaced after 8 years, then the yearly maintenance would be around Rs4,000/-
There are more chances of costs going down than up in this technology :-)

2. Where will the monitors for these cameras will be placed and who will be responsible for its monitoring?

There are two kinds of monitoring. The DVR is IP enabled. If connected to internet, you can view each camera live from your computer. They provide the necessary software.
Other option is, DVR can be connected to TV or Monitor for live view of each camera on the screen.
To start with we can go with no live view of cameras. We can only view the past recorded videos in case of incident. Past recordings can be viewed on laptops after taking the backup of required period to Pen Drive.

3. For how long the data will be there in system for its retrieval?

We can choose this. Hard drive of 1 TB  can hold minimum of 30 days of data from four cameras. Need to go for bigger hard drive if more than 30 days of backup required.

4. Do you have comparative quotes from other Vendors? If yes, please share.

I have been trying to get lowest possible quotation because this is not only for our block, lot of other blocks showing interest for cctv cameras in lifts. No wonder if all 37 blocks will have cctv cameras one day :-)

Quotation1 from "Expert Solutions", contact Mr M. Afroz, Mobile: +91-9700068373. He visited site and inspected lifts before giving the quotation. This is the one I listed before. Total cost Rs 35,000/- aprox.

Quotation2 from "Wins Technology", Total cost Rs 25,000/- approx. Not visited the site, obviously we need more cable than what he mentioned. Forwarded e-mail to you.

Quotaion3 from "Gleam Solutions". Total cost Rs25,00/- aprox. Marketing guy visited the site, estimation is not accurate. Forwarded e-mail to you.

One more vendor "VSR Traders" going to visit the site tomorrow with demo pieces.

This is on going process, as I mentioned in one of the e-mails that I just forwarded to you ( Subject: Obscene messages in lifts), it would be great if any one who has expertise in this area can get lowest quotation possible.
