The Right to Information Chat: Chief Information Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi
Rediff.com : December 29, 6.30 pm - 7.30 pm IST.

The Right to Information Act 2005 is hailed as a landmark in India's
evolution as a democracy. It empowers the ordinary citizen, who has
hither-to been armed with only his vote, with the information that
propel government decisions.

Thanks to the legislation, citizens can seek -- and get within 30 days
-- information on how the government arrived at decisions, be it about
his ration card application or the money spent on lighting a road
outside his home.

Shailesh Gandhi, convenor of the National Campaign for People's Right
to Information, who was recently appointed Central Information
Commissioner, New Delhi, will be hosting a chat on rediff.com on
Monday, December 29, between 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm IST.

Don't miss the chance to find out from CIC Shailesh Gandhi how you can
army yourself better in the struggle against officialdom.

(Due to circumstances beyond our control, the date and time of chat may change)
