Hi Specto

What kind of improvements are you thinking? In the native rtorrent
interface, you have to use up/down and space, and in rtGui you can use
up/down and tab (or the mouse). How often do you really have to
select one torrent out of hundreds?

Regarding the wget option, did you notice you can add a torrent file
or URL via the 'Add Torrent' link?! This requires the rtorrent
watch_directory set - see
http://libtorrent.rakshasa.no/wiki/RTorrentCommonTasks#Watchadirectoryfortorrents

Ah - this would not be a trivial thing to implement. I'm considering
a complete overhaul of the rtGui interface using something like jQuery
for a 'richer' experience (possibly including selections using
drag/shit etc) but I've got too many other commitments to consider
doing it anytime soon.

As for downloading any file to any directory, this isn't really a
feature related to torrents so I can't see a reason to add it to
rtGui. Did you notice that you can upload any file type to the
watch_directory using the 'Add Torrent' -> 'File:'? If you really
need this feature, it would be very easy to implement - just do a bit
of googling and you'll find scripts to help you.

I was also thinking of taking your codebase and reskinning it with jquery as well. any thoughts / ideas about a good web interface? I'm happy to start work on it after some planning. Are there any links to good torrent or download manager interfaces we could borrow ideas from? web or not, doesn't matter.

Something like this?

Yep, although JQuery would be more elegant.

Ya I could do it, I'm thinking about all of the web ui's I have used,
torrentflux, torrentflux-b4rt, utorrent webui, wtorrent, etc and
trying to think of the features that I used the most on each.
