First of all, I'd like to say I really like rtgui : simple and
effective, I'm really pleased using it each day.

After a few days, I thought it would be even nicer with a more
stylish, actual theme, so I started hacking the css file, and add a
few div here and there .. work's not finished yet, I still have to
skin input/select markups and submodal views too, but here's the
current version :

http://www.guezennec.org/images/rtgui_mod_110130.jpg

I'm willing to share with anyone, if interested .. I'll also create a
new stylesheet for mobile devices with a much lighter theme.

I'm also interested in adding some extra features I need, such as :
- Sort torrents by date,
- Remove data along with torrent when clicking "Delete", if user wants
to,
- Add a Label feature to allow custom filtering (mostly to filter
torrents I already downloaded from the others),
- Maybe a theme selector to suit user's preferences.

I was going to ask for project's status, if I may be some help, but it
looks that James Nylen already started working on rtgui's code, and I
don't know if I'd rather be starting from official branch or James'
fork.

So, what's rtgui's current status ? Are you going to release a new
version soon ?

Best regards,
SanDooo

Hi Sandoo,

Unfortunately I can not advise on the status, but I can advise I emailed the group some months ago and never received a reply, but that doesn't mean it is infact stopped.

I really like the template you have created and would love to use it on our boxes at rapidserverz.co.uk.

It is something I have been meaning to do myself for a while but just never found time.

Kind Regards,

RapidServerz

Hello. I also changed the look of the GUI months ago, but I lost the changes. I wanted to show more lines than the original making the lines thinner. Maybe you can also add this change to your new style.

Thanks for the working.

El Artista.

Hi

I'm Simon - the developer of rtGui.

Yes, development has rather stalled. I've got lots of ideas for the
next version of rtGui, but having trouble finding time to code them.

One of the major enhancements I want is to provide an easy way to
enable themes - I'm thinking of a templating system. This, and other
things require that the code for rtGui needs a major overhaul - if not
a complete re-write from scratch.

I'm very happy for someone/anyone else to take things further - I like
the look of the new theme supplied by SanDooo. I'd be quite happy to
host them on the official rtGui site.

Oh, and as discussed in-depth before, sorting torrents by date is a
problem as rTorrent doesn't report that info.

Cheers
Simon

Hi all,

please excuse me for my poor english, it's not my native language and
I'm pretty sure I do many mistakes ..

@RapidServerz : it's definitely time consuming, and maintaining
several frontends does not help, lol. Let me finish it and I'll share
it, no problem for me ... ;)
In the end, we'll see if Simon will post the final skin on official
rtgui website or not, 'cause as I said, for now I only slightly
modified some php files, but to go further I need to change much more
code (can't easily skin select markups, I have to entirely explode the
form and implement it with divs ... and I have to rewrite submodal's
frames).

@elartista0 : hum, looks kinda "hard" to reduce height on displayed
torrents, since there are 2 lines shown by torrent .. I thought about
putting all info on the same line, but the layout will definitely be
wider and I'm not sure it would suit Simon's primary goal (ie: display
on TV or mobile devices). But if we implement the templating system,
each user could choose which layout he prefers, so why not ?!

@Simon : many things to do, but so little time .. same here ;)
Yep that's what I saw : for now, my skin is (nearly) entirely done
with a CSS file since I didn't want to impact php files, but in the
end I had to modify some divs and had a spacer before the
bottomtab ... but if I want to go further (skin select markup or
properly skin submodal's views), I need to deeply modify your code.
The templating system sounds like the proper solution, but it requires
a major overhaul of the code, as you said.
I don't know what's the best to do now .. if OK with you I'm gonna
rewrite all final XHTML code to be W3C compliant and export all
properties in CSS files, it should be a good start to properly skin
rtgui.

Hum, I thought I could use torrent's filesystem creation date to do
that, I'll have a look at the thread you mentionned to get history.

Regards,
SanDooo
