First Ever Right to Information Youth Festival: Delhi

Satark Nagrik Sangathan, with collaboration with MKSS,Josh and other
RTI organizations, is organizing the First ever Right to Information
Youth Festival on the 23rd of November 2006 to create awareness about
the RTI act and to create pressure on the Government to discourage it
from introducing the amendments.

The Right to Information festival will include events and competitions
characteristic of any youth festival -- debates, street theatre,
creative writing competitions, and Jam sessions etc and will also have
activities that create awareness and support for the Right to
Information - RTI training and a panel discussion. It will also give
an opportunity to the youth to work with activists like Aruna Roy,
Nikhil Dey, Anjali Bhardwaj, Shekhar Singh. The festival will culminate
in a rock-show by the popular rock band- Indian Ocean.

The events of the Festival are as follows:
Ghotala Rath Yatra at 10 a.m.
[Starting Delhi Univ Sports Complex (next to VC's Off)]

Music, debate, street theatre, banner signing "Hands for RTI"

[Delhi Univ Sports Complex from 12-2 p.m.]

Public Debate on proposed RTI Amendments with activists and
Parlimentarians

[St Stephens Auditorium, 2.30-4 p.m]

Indian Ocean Concert

[Sports Complex 4 pm onwards (Free entry)]


This will be the first ever youth initiative in the RTI movement and
seeks to bring together young people from all sections of society in
this collaborative effort for the RTI.
