Dear friends,
As you know, the Third Convention on the Right to Food and Work will be taking place in Gaya (Bihar) on 6-8 April 2007. The draft programme of the convention is attached.
The steering group of the right to food campaign is acting as "programme committee" for the convention. The attached draft programme was put together by Kavita Srivastava, convener of the steering group, based on a preparatory meeting held in Delhi on 2 March, earlier preparatory meetings, and follow-up discussions with members of the steering group. Further suggestions are welcome.
Please consider organising meetings, workshops and conventions at the district/state level on these issues in advance of the national convention. This would facilitate better involvement of local groups and grassroots organizations at the national convention. Participating organisations are also invited to bring their campaign material ( e.g. reports, posters, exhibitions, etc.) for circulation or display at the Bodh Gaya convention.
The tentative budget of the Bodh Gaya convention is about Rs. 3,00,000/-. This cost will be met through voluntary donations and registration fees (Rs 100 per participant for three days, including food and accommodation). Thus any donations that you can send will be most helpful. Donations can All participants are expected to make their own travel arrangements. Kindly book your tickets well in advance. And kindly intimate us about your participation as it will help us plan for the convention. We request you to share news of this convention within your organization and with other interested organizations/individuals as well.
