Nate-

A better way to take a picture of the iPhone Simulator is to press cmd-
shift-4 and then press space and hover your mouse over the simulator.
It will be highlighted and you can then click to take a picture. It
evens cuts away the background and makes it transparent!

The description explicitly says screenshots should not be of the
simulator, just the app.

Right. I missed that line. I suppose you could use that and then use
another app to crop to the specific dimensions. Also, if you can run
the app on the device, you can take pictures by holding the home
button and pressing the hold button. Next time you plug your device
into the computer, you can download the images. They will be just the
app.
