Ihave Virtual Clone drive installed on Windows 7, but I only use it rarely. I would like to disable it from running on startup. I already checked the startup folder and msconfig, but I couldn't find a way to disable this service.
Hit Windows+R (run). In the box that apears type msconfig. This will bring you to the system configuration.Go to the tab that says windows start (or something like that, my sistem is not in english).Find the entry that says virtual Clone Drive and uncheck it.It will prompt you to restart, you may choose to do so later it doesn't matter.
When i install virtual clone drive in VMware it doenst work anymore after i capture and deploy it. The target PC doesnt reconnize the virtual scsi driver any more (within VMware it did work), how can i get it to work?
It looks as if sysprep is causing the problem. Once run the driver that is associated with the root\vclone device no longer works and you end up with a SCSI RAID controller device that doesn't start correctly. To fix this you will need to reinstall the filter driver that Virtual ClonDrive uses. Please follow the steps below to do this.
But when i try to apply the command in "FIRSTBOOT" it doesnt work. I had to make a batch file, and run it in the "FIRSTLOGIN" fase option. Then it works. Only i have to start up the machine the first time with a admin account... When i try to run the batch file(or command) in the first boot fase it doesnt work.
With the closing of Slysoft as a business, it seems that Virtual CloneDrive will also cease development. And the only way to get it now is to find some software repository that keeps copies of installers and not just offer links to the company's download location. Slysoft's download page is already disabled, so you can't get it from them.
Actually, looks like I may have spoken too soon. Seems Virtual CloneDrive is developed by Elaborate Bytes and that Slysoft was just offering it on their behalf. EB is still offering the software on its site, so it looks like Virtual CloneDrive may not cease development after all.
VCD is not a bad program but in its current state it's just useless. It can open only a few formats but BIN, B6T, B6I and B00 are not among them which makes VCD rather useless program. It also can't open some images created with the Alcohol software. Not to mention it takes a rather long time to open a regular ISO (for example - ISO created with ImgBurn from a DVD disc) while Daemon Tools Lite opens all formats instantaneously.
It's not useless. I use it over all the other options. I've never come across any of those formats you mentioned except BIN, but VCD can support CUE files to load BIN. You do have to manually set it, though.
I don't use Alcohol or Daemon Tools because I've found it can be rendered useless by some firewall software, like ZoneAlarm. It's various pass through supports don't load when the firewalls are running. Or maybe it was the other way around, I forget. Maybe it was the firewalls didn't work when when the virtual drives were installed. I think it was as I originally said, though.
In short, if you usually burn CD's and DVD's, now you can test the content before burning them. Save money on discs, and if you have a big HD, you can load images without having to search for the discs, just load image on the virtual drives and enjoy.

im having trouble with this , i downloaded & installed the program , however when i go to mount , it does not give me the option to do so . there is a manual file for a shortcut and an uninstall file . when i right click virtualclonedrive , explore open search scan with ad aware , these are the things listed . what am i doing wrong? i've rebooted the vista home premium edition machine and tried it just sits there. this is an amd turion processor..not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. any help you can give is appreciated.
this is vista 32bit & yes i have tried rebooting, turning the system off and waiting 2 or 3 hours for no reason etc.. i have also tried installing and uninstalling. this is a brand new machince right out of the box not a rebuild or an machine that has had mulitple things installed or uninstalled etc.
You should also go download MAGIC ISO (that's what I use) and see if you have the same problem. BTW - you can grab an ISO file anywhere these days. try a few of them to make sure it's not a dud like groovy dude said.
But yeah it sounds like you have a corrupted ISO file or in some cases a file won't be readable by certain virtual drive software if it was made by another software brand, such is the case with Alcohol %120 formatted discs.
I have problems with making virtual drives on my system. i have a 32 bit windows vista. i didn't have a problem before i installed a new version of deamon tools and it stuck my system. after i restarted it seems that i can't see any virtual drives with any program (virtual CloneDrive included)
in the device manager i see that under storage controllers there is a "!" mark on SCSI/RAID Host Controller and when i press properties it says: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

Anywho, I've been having a heck of time getting a virtual CD to work. All of them seem to not be able to install, or fail once you try to use them. Is there a specific one that Win95 will work with? I believe I'm using version Windows 95 "B"...is that part of the problem? If so, is there an upgrade somewhere?
I had the same problem with Mortal Kombat Trilogy in Win95. It too is a mixed mode CD. Neither Daemon Tools nor CloneCD would support the audio tracks on the image files. I had better success with an older version of Alcohol 120% (v1.4.7). Sometimes the audio would play, sometimes nothing. In XP it works fine however so it may be a 95 problem.
Is there some source documentation to look through? If not, which files deal with CDs/CD images, Red Book/mixed mode audio, and the boot command? And is there some docs on how a real machine (and its BIOS) deals with CD drives? Sorry for all of the n00b questions, but I really would like to work on it if I could.
Unfortunately, NOT. I don't know why, but AudioCD doesn't works. I've tested 2 games: X-Wing 95 and Civnet without success. Maybe I have something wrong with my CD ROM settings, but I can't play audio tracks even under WinAMP...
Hmm, something I can't understand. I've tested Super EF2000 made by DID. This version has audiotracks. I've mounted an NRG-image with ImageDrive, launched game, and...it plays audiotracks! Although I can't play it under WinAMP, audiotracks are played in game...strange, very strange...
DaemonTools doesn't work because it generate an "famous 1723 error". This is probably caused by Windows Installer, but I have newest verscion. which works under Windows 9x...
Virtual Clonedrive doesn't work! MagicDisk also. The only one virtualdrive, which works is ImageDrive from Nero. Maybe I have something wrong with my Win95 installation, I don't know.
Now I didn't try any of these in Windows 9x in DOSBox because Windows 9x is not supported in DOSBox so if you are referring to these programs not working in 9x then also mention that you are using them in DOSBox as well.
I know it! I don't complain about incompatibility of DOSBOX with Win 95. I know, this can be VERY unstable, is from DOSBOX not supported etc etc. The goal of this topic is an exchange of knowledge and experiences about virtual drive emulation in Win95 under DOSBOX. I won't bother anybody (especially from DOSBOX creation staff) about this emulation and problems. I share only with my knowledge. That's all.
There is a project over at MSFN that is sort of like KernelEX for Windows 98 in that it will improve compatibility for modern apps on Windows 95, can't remember the name right now. Thinks it's SHScomething
