Centre for hindu media Research and studies centref...@yahoo.comNew Delhi, December 18 : Raghav Reddy and Chmapat Rai have been appointed as International President and International General Secretary respectively of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Reddy has succeeded Ashok Singhal who was attached to this top post from last two decades. Till now, Reddy was treasurer of VHP while Rai has succeeded Dr Pravin Togadia.
Dr Pravin Togadia and Ashok Chowgule have been given new responsibilities. They have been appointed as International Executive Presidents of VHP. Chowgule will look after world affairs of the VHP. These official changes were decided upon at the VHP international meeting in Kochi.
VHP media in charge Vinod Bansal said, “After three years, there is an election in organization. From last five years, Singhal is ill and therefore, he was demanding to be free from the post. Finally, his requisition is accepted today. Nevertheless, he will be associated with the organization as an advisor, so that he will guide us.”
Singhal and Togadia were appointed as an international executive president and international general secretary in 1998 respectively. Later, Singhal was appointed an international president of VHP in 2005.
When asked about the significance of these appointments, he said, “In VHP culture, the post never matters. Leaders keep on working diligently irrespective of post or position. It is not like that if the person will be holding a position then only he will work otherwise he will not. Both the leaders guide us in future also. But, under the new leadership, organization will grow and Hindu society will touch new heights. It is our expectation.”
