Our Monthly Meetup @ CSULB!

Please join us this Saturday March 14th at 10:00am for our next *in person* Meetup!

Plug 1331 Palo Verde Ave, Long Beach, CA into your GPS and google will take you right to the front door.  :-)

Here's what's on the agenda...

9:30 am: The Doors open. Stop by early and say hi! Or log in early to make sure your mic works. We'll be here.

9:45 am: Business meeting & Elections!

10:00 am Meet Lloyd: My Helpful, Self-Improving AI Assistant
OpenClaw + Opus 4.6 and local models has been the unlock for a whole new generation of truly useful AI agents.  After a brief introduction and guide to getting started with your own OpenClaw agent, we'll walk you through the primary components that set Lloyd apart and and make him both unique -- and useful.
  • Memories are managed through an Obsidian vault with fully  autonomous memory management and vault organization
  • Skills (instructions) that are autonomously collected, managed and improved upon nightly
  • Work can be delegated to any one of his 10 sub-agents, and they can be strung together into a process workflow
  • A comprehensive backlog management subsystem that he controls
  • A fully custom (possibly over-engineered) Mission Control UI provides full visibility into his state and activities
  • A fully neural Voice to Voice interaction pipeline, with speaker identification

11:00 am Building a Short-King Humanoid:  Yoshi's Journey Into 3D-Printed Robotics
What does it take to design and build a multi-DOF modular humanoid robot from the ground up? This talk walks through the full journey — from why humanoids matter and what makes them so hard to get right, to the hardware choices, design trade-offs, and hard-won lessons along the way.

We'll look at the state of small-scale humanoids, how competitions like RoboCup are pushing the field forward, and how accessible these platforms have become for builders willing to get their hands dirty. Every topic ties back to Yoshi's humanoid robot — a real, in-progress 3D-printed humanoid built by hand.

Want to see it up close? The live demo is in-person only, so don't miss this one.

12:00 pm: 30 minute grab-n-go Lunch Break

12:30 pm: Announcements / Show-n-Tell / Open Session. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and get advice. Our members will bring in their projects and share what we've been up to. Are you working on something? Bring it in!

For anyone unable to attend in person, here's the Zoom info for this Saturday's meeting.
