11:00 am Building a Short-King Humanoid: Yoshi's Journey Into 3D-Printed Robotics
What does it take to design and build a multi-DOF modular humanoid robot from the ground up? This talk walks through the full journey — from why humanoids matter and what makes them so hard to get right, to the hardware choices, design trade-offs, and hard-won lessons along the way.
We'll look at the state of small-scale humanoids, how competitions like RoboCup are pushing the field forward, and how accessible these platforms have become for builders willing to get their hands dirty. Every topic ties back to Yoshi's humanoid robot — a real, in-progress 3D-printed humanoid built by hand.
Want to see it up close? The live demo is in-person only, so don't miss this one.
12:00 pm: 30 minute grab-n-go Lunch Break
12:30 pm: Announcements / Show-n-Tell / Open Session. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and get advice. Our members will bring in their projects and share what we've been up to. Are you working on something? Bring it in!
For anyone unable to attend in person, here's the Zoom info for this Saturday's meeting.
