Hi Alan et al...
I'll be at LEGOLAND with my 24 year old son and my 30ish year old nephew. Big day of family! Have a great meeting!
RSSC Has New digs! Me too! Makersville Services is going to be moving to the Long Beach's Promenade North. It's not a huge space, but has huge potential for foot traffic and visibility. We're also going to have a retail capability, and hope to be there in the next week or two. If you have something you want to sell, you can as a member of the space put it there and host a sale day. We have to do a lot of legalese with licenses and stuff, but we're working to make things happen easily. Be sure I'll be selling all the LEGO sets I've collected and now have no room to store!
It is a space to serve Artists and Makers, and we may call it Makersville, or we may call it something else.
There are Farmers' Markets and Vendors' markets on the street it faces, so lots of opportunity for foot traffic.
We are going to be gathering the growing downtown Long Beach community (lots of folks in those high rises) and creating capacity for making at this and other locations, plus events in spaces around Downtown Long Beach.
I'm also going to be working developing the group into a Museum of Invention for downtown Long Beach.
I hope you agree this is very exciting! I'll keep you posted and invite y'all to our open house.
In the Meantime, I wonder if you could help Ryan Kurtzman with the City of Long Beach's Innovation Department get the word out about the Long Beach Co-Lab progress and demo day on Sat the 15th 11AM to 230 PM. Flyer is included. The Co-Lab is an annual cohort of citizens who consider problems identified by the City staff and leads to RFPs for technology solutions that go out to small innovation tech companies who make proposals.
I expect the Co-Lab will continue next year, and they will be seeking a new cohort. I'll send that notice out when it comes out also.
